Yes I agree Doc. I think there needs to be more differentiation in NSF pay between ranks and appointments. It is not fair that a commando corporal gets just a bit more combat pay than a clerk who spends his days in an air con room. It will make NSFs think twice before downgrading.

Hi Gerald,
I am happpy with Record V but more is needed:
1.NSF pay should be more like what a school leaver ( post-A/Post-Poly) would get. Higher pay would make Mindef think properly of using expensive resources. Now deployment of resouces is really mismatched.
2.Reservist period should be cut down to bare bone. Most of ICT is wasted with admin ( ie waiting for things to happen).
3.NSF- supply and demand: those units Commandos/Guards- should get higher pay than service jobs ( clerks). Limited number of people can be commandos but almost anyone can do paperwork.
4. Rank/appointments- self-explanatory: more responsibilities more pay.
5. NSF should count for part of Uni education ( part of General education). Non-NS/girls have to do another module to compensate.

Low pay now causes perception that people are just units to make up Orbat- leads to low morale. Behaviour pattern is not conducive to productivity.

Consider NS for women- in nursing/cd/volunteer work eg Peace Corps concept. Good for nationhood-sense of belonging.
